Research

“SO WHAT DO YOU DO?”

The Porterfield lab has an innovative approach to translational research which is founded in multidisciplinary partnerships and focused on solving problems of shared concern. We believe that clinical work and research should start and end with the patients in mind. The work that we engage in should always focus on improving outcomes or our understanding of disease so that we can make a difference in the treatment of the diseases we study.

The overarching focus of the land is understanding the interface between viral infection and immunity especially in rural, at risk, and marginalized populations. This approach blends basic science, clinical research, dissemination implementation approaches, and patient care.
